Type of work performed: Installation of heat pump water heater and HVAC system
Area of the room, m²: 150 m²
Material/technique used: Sanco heat pump water heater, Echo Air HVAC heat pump integrated with Harvest Thermal system
Location: San Mateo, CA
The client wanted to upgrade their home with an energy-efficient system that could handle domestic hot water, cooling, and heating needs. Their goal was to reduce energy consumption and take advantage of off-peak electricity rates.
Air and Plumbing Systems proposed installing a Sanco heat pump water heater and an Echo Air HVAC heat pump, both integrated into the advanced Harvest Thermal system. The main challenge was ensuring the system ran efficiently during off-peak hours while maintaining comfort for the residents.
For this project, we chose the Sanco and Echo Air units due to their excellent energy performance and the ability to manage both heating and cooling requirements efficiently. These systems are designed to run primarily during off-peak electricity hours, storing hot water and regulating the home’s temperature with minimal energy consumption.

The client saved on energy bills by using electricity during off-peak hours, which drastically reduced overall costs. The system’s efficiency ensured that the water heating and HVAC systems worked harmoniously, minimizing unnecessary energy consumption.
The Sanco heat pump water heater was selected for its energy efficiency and quiet operation, while the Echo Air HVAC pump provided cooling and supplemental heating when required. These were integrated with the Harvest Thermal system, allowing for smart energy management.
To ensure optimal performance, it’s important to regularly check the system’s filters and keep them clean. Scheduling annual maintenance for the HVAC system will help it run smoothly. Additionally, monitoring energy usage and optimizing the system’s settings will allow you to fully benefit from off-peak electricity rates.
